Educational Qualification-

  • The candidate must be a Law Graduate/equivalent qualifications from any University/Institution which is recognized by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi.
  • The candidate will have to obtain a certificate from the University/Institution acknowledging the fact that the year in which the candidate passed the Law Graduation examination, the University/Institution was recognized by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi.

Examination Fee-

In addition to the above-stated fee, the candidates will have to pay the fee charged by the different Banks for transactions done through them.

Syllabus of Bihar Judicial Service Examination (PCS J)-

Preliminary Examination-

  • General Knowledge including current affairs.
  • Elementary General Science
  • Law of Evidence & Procedure
  • Law of Evidence & Procedure
  • Hindu Law & Muhammadan Law
  • Law of Transfer of Property
  • Principles of Equity
  • Law of Trusts and Specific Relief
  • Law of Contracts & Torts
  • Commercial Law

Minimum Qualifying Marks for Preliminary Examination-

  • Unreserved Category- 45%
  • Reserved Category- 40%

Mains Examination-

Compulsory Subjects

  • General Knowledge including current affairs (150 Marks),
  • Elementary General Science (100 Marks),
  • General Hindi (100 Marks),
  • General English (100 Marks),
  • Law of Evidence and Procedure (150 Marks).

The Minimum Qualifying Marks for General Hindi and English will be 30. Candidates obtaining less than 30 will be considered to be disqualified for Mains Examination. But these marks shall not be considered for deciding Merit.

Optional Subjects

The candidate will have to choose only Three subjects out of these Five subjects-

  • Constitutional and Administrative Law of India (150 Marks),
  • Hindu and Muhammadan Law (150 Marks),
  • Law of Transfer of Property, Principles of Equity, Law of Trusts and Specific Relief (150 Marks),
  • Law of Contracts & Torts (150 Marks),
  • Commercial Law (150 Marks).

Interview-

The Interview shall be of 100 Marks out of which minimum qualifying marks shall be 35%.
