A meeting of the Executive Committee of Oudh Bar Association, High Court, Lucknow Bench, was held on 25 March 2025. It has been held under the Chairmanship of Mr. R.D. Shahi, President, and Mr. Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, General Secretary. As per the resolution, the Executive Committee of the Oudh Bar Association is pained and offended due to the collegium recommendation regarding the transfer of Mr. J. Yashwant Varma to Allahabad High Court. The experiences also corroborate the fact that the Allahabad High Court is being used as a ‘Dustbin’, which is intolerable.
The Bar Association has condemned the collegium recommendation and requested the Central Government to withdraw it. It is unacceptable to have Mr. J. Varma to any of the High Courts, including the High Court of Uttar Pradesh. The Supreme Court has been advised to keep Justice Varma attached to his Delhi Office. They have further demanded his impeachment at the earliest.
The resolution has underlined that the President of the Oudh Bar Association, High Court, Lucknow has discussed the issue with other Bar Associations of High Courts. They will all discuss the issue with the Central Government and Hon’ble CJI. It has also been requested that in the event of the transfer of J. Varma to any HC, he needs to be boycotted.
Further, to mark solidarity with the Allahabad High Court Bar Association, the Oudh Bar Association is resolved to abstain from judicial work on 28 March 2025.
