Eligibility for Civil Judge-

  • Age- Maximum: 35 Years’, Minimum: 22 Years (Age relaxations applicable as per the Category)
  • Educational Qualification-
    • Law Graduate from a Recognized University
    • Must be enrolled as an Advocate under the Advocates Act 1961 till the last date of application form submission
  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.

Stages of Examination

  1. Preliminary Examination
  2. Mains Examination
  3. Interview

1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)-

The Preliminary Entrance Test shall be of 100 Marks in aggregate. The marks obtained in the preliminary examination shall not be counted for final selection. There shall be no negative marking.

  • The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908
  • The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973
  • The Indian Evidence Act, 1872
  • The Law of Contract, 1872
  • The Indian Penal Code, 1860

2. Mains Examination (Written Examination)

Candidates up to 15 times the total vacancy category-wise shall be called to appear in the Main Examination. The duration of the Main Examination shall be 3 hours for each paper.

  • Procedural Law
    • The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908
    • The Code of Criminal Procedure,1973
  • The Indian Penal Code, 1860
  • The Limitation Act, 1963
  • The Indian Evidence Act, 1872

Paper- II (100 Marks)

  • The Contract Act, 1872
  • The Sales of Goods Act, 1930
  • The Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996
  • The Transfer of Property Act, 1882
  • The Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881

Paper – III (100 Marks)

  • The Hindu Law and The Mohammedan Law
  • The Specific Relief Act, 1963
  • Jurisprudence
  • Rent Control Law

Paper-IV (Language)- (100 Marks)

Hindi and English language tests with Essay writing, Translation and Paraphrasing.

3. Interview/ Viva-Voce-

  • In the Interview Test, the minimum qualifying marks would be 25% for the General category candidates and 20% for Schedules Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Economically Backword Caste & Backwards Caste.
  • No candidate, irrespective of his marks in the Mains Examination, shall be eligible for selection for appointment if he obtains less than the minimum prescribed marks in the Interview Test.
  • The final selection list shall be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in the Main Examination and the Interview.
