The Uttar Pradesh Police has continued its legacy to establish again that it cannot be called a friendly police ever. The Lucknow Police personnel urinated on the Advocates while keeping them in custody. They also beat them up brutally, and assaulted them. In addition to these, the police used filthy abusive words, snatched the money, and the gold ornaments as well. This alleged incident is horrifying, that such kind of things are happening with Advocates, then it requires a big attention to what the police would be doing with a common man.
Facts in Brief-
As per the First Information Report, the Complainant, Advocate Saurabh Verma received information that some of the Advocates have been detained at Vibhuti Khand Police Station. Acting upon the information, the complainant reached the police station. He witnessed there that the police officers were beating the Advocates badly. The names of those policemen who were involved are Pankaj Kumar Singh, Jaudee (illegible), Irfan, Yogendra Singh Sengar, Shubham Tyagi, Anuj Kumar, Suhail Khan. Apart from the policemen mentioned earlier, some three to four constables and some were also in civil dress. They were using abusive words to the Advocates, and they also threatened them with death.

The belongings were also snatched away from the Advocates, which included money, wallets and the gold ornaments. The policemen, altogether urinated on them after discussing with the fellow policeman. The policemen also demanded ₹50,000/- per person for their release, otherwise they (Advocates) will be sent to jail on a false case. Police also deleted the CCTV footage related to the incident. They were released when numerous Advocates reached the police station. As per media reports, the Advocates were forcefully compelled to drink urine.
The FIR-
On the above stated facts, an FIR has been lodged at the Vibhuti Khand Police Station, Lucknow on the 14th of March. In the FIR, nine policemen have been named, including the Inspector as the accused person. The FIR has been lodged under Sections 115(2), 352, 309(4), 351(3), 191(2) of the Bhartiya Nagrik Sanhita, 2023.
